It has been announced that the Bet365 Gambling Group and Geo Networks, the London based fibre network provider, have signed a ten year deal in terms of which Geo Networks will provide the gambling group with a national optical fibre network.
The deal, which is said to be worth approximately £3 million, is due to come into effect from the beginning of 2012 and will enable Bet365 to deliver a superior end-user experience to its members and also respond to increased network demands.
Bet365 has revealed that the new network will be deployed between its key UK data centers in Heathrow, Manchester, London and Stoke-on-Trent thus allowing fast and reliable distribution of its data across its network in real time.
Neil Selby, Head of Networks and Security for Bet365, stated that as their players numbers continue to grow, they must find original ways to ensure that their infrastructure can meet both today’s demand as well as the growth that they anticipate for the future.
Selby added that a strong and low latency network is required by Bet365, capable of providing a smooth service to its hundreds of thousands of players simultaneously online who each expect their odds information and their winnings to be readily available.
Selby went on to say that due to the nature of Bet365’s business the new network is required to have the ability to deal with huge spikes in traffic.
Geo Networks is meanwhile looking forward to developing its experience in the UK online gambling industry although this is a new breed of customer for the company.
