Canadian Lottery Group Earns top Accreditation

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) announced this week that it has obtained the highest degree of accreditation from the world lottery regulator, WLA. The BCLC was recognized as “world leader” in responsible gambling, taking the Level 4 in the WLA’s Responsible Gambling Framework.

The Minister of Housing and Social Development for British Columbia, Rich Coleman, said that the province has worked hard to develop responsible gambling strategies and programs which promote healthy, informed choices. “This achievement is a testament to the integrity and the effectiveness of those innovative programs,” he said.

“Congratulations on this important accomplishment,” said WLA RG Framework Panel Chair, Mike Randall. “The WLA’s Independent Review Panel was particularly impressed by BCLC’s well developed and defined retailer program, sophisticated game designs and contribution to responsible gambling research, which is now being considered for development of a case study as best practice in the world.”

“We are extremely pleased to receive this level of endorsement from the WLA,” said the President and Chief Executive Officer of British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Michael Graydon. “As one of only three lottery jurisdictions in North America and just 13 jurisdictions worldwide to have reached the top tier Level 4, there is no denying that our comprehensive RG strategies are among the industry’s very best.”

The World Lottery Authority covers over 140 government controlled lotteries from around the world in over 70 countries.
