Ladbrokes Seeking New Leadership as CEO Christopher Bell Steps Down

Since Christopher Bell, CEO of Ladbrokes’ announcement that he will be stepping down from his role as a Director of the Company, Ladbrokes plc, the global betting and gaming company, has been engaged in a search for a new Chief Executive Officer.

Christopher Bell joined Ladbrokes in 1991 and has thus been with the company for almost twenty years. He was appointed as Managing Director of the company during 1995 and as Chief Executive of Ladbrokes plc after the sale of the Hilton International hotels division in February 2006. Prior to that appointment he had served as Chief Executive of Ladbrokes Worldwide.

Peter Erskine, Chairman of Ladbrokes stated that Christopher Bell has made an invaluable contribution to the growth and development of Ladbrokes during his 20 years with the Company, nine years of which he spent as Chief Executive. He reported further that Christopher Bell and the Board have agreed between themselves that it is now an appropriate time to seek new leadership for the business and the Board is currently searching for a new Chief Executive to capitalize on Ladbrokes’ brand strength and help the Company enter a new era of profitable growth.

Christopher Bell is also a Board member of the Horserace Betting Levy Board, a non-executive and senior independent director of Game Group plc, Vice Chairman of the Association of British Bookmakers as well as Chairman of the Bookmakers Committee. He announced that he was privileged to have been Chief Executive for a great company such as Ladbrokes for a period of nine years and is proud of what they succeeded in achieving during that time. He is now looking forward to doing all in his power to support the Company during the period of transition.

Ladbrokes will announce the date of Mr. Bell’s departure in due course.
