Launch of Online Casino Delayed until October in Finland

Online gamblers who had been eagerly awaiting the launch of the Finnish Slot Machine Association’s (RAY) state-commissioned online casino in August will now have to wait until October for the anticipated launch due to new, stringent state gambling laws which need to be adapted.
The launch date was changed to October due to the fact that RAY, the only legal provider of online casino and poker games in Finland has to have the software adjusted to conform to these last-minute state gaming laws with regard to the betting and loss limits on the different casino games.
According to Kari Hyttinen, head of Finnish Slot Machine Association’s (RAY) gaming operations, it has become more complicated to implement the software to cover the rules since the laws in Finland stipulate that each game should have its own limit. An example of this rule is that gamblers are able to bet more on craps than on roulette in order to protect both the gamblers and the casino.
Until the launch of the country’s new online casino, Finnish online gamblers will not be able to play online unless they use offshore online sites. Hopefully the wait for the online casino will be over in October when RAY, who has a monopoly on casino gambling in Finland, will launch their casino.
Once the casino is launched it will offer cutting edge technology that will be able to track gamblers’ betting patterns. Any sudden increase in a gambler’s bets will send a warning to the operators.
