The UK gambling group, William Hill Plc has announced that it will be replacing its non executive director from the first of next month. David Lowden will replace David Allvey, who served in this position from 2002 and who is expected to retire after the Annual General Meeting in May.
David Lowden served as Chief Executive Officer of the global market research group Taylor Nelson Sofres from 2006 until 2009, and has also held executive positions in top international groups such as Federal Express and AC Nielsen.
“I am delighted that David Lowden has agreed to join the William Hill board,” said the chairman of William Hill, Gareth Davis. “His extensive experience with international companies will be an asset to the group as we pursue an agenda of innovation and international development.”
Davis said that on behalf of the board at William Hill, he wanted to thank David Allvey for his years of service to the group. He said that his contribution had been invaluable through a period of significant development for the group – from its flotation through to the Stanley acquisition, which made William Hill the top bookmaker in the United Kingdom. Allvey was also active in the establishment and development of William Hill Online.
Allvey’s position as Senior Independent non executive director will be replaced by David Edmonds, who, until now, has been a non executive director.
