PokerStars Sunday Million Online Tournament Won By Russian

PokerStars has announced that its first Sunday Million tournament of August was won by online poker player “Sosnoviy” from Russia. The lucky player went home with over $236,610 in prize money.

The prize pool was boosted to $1,582,200 for the final 1,170 players after the tournament began with 7,911 competitors.

After a swift start the final two tables were reached leaving only three players, “grebnrets 86”, “shack232” and “kenneeoin” over the million-chip mark. One online competitor “1Montezuma” left in eleventh place and “LukeFromB13” went up against “BigRed0000” and lost tenth spot for $8,464 after hand-for-hand play began.

“Sosnoviy” was way ahead in the chip count when the final table kicked off with “jakemotta3” going up against “grebnrets86” and being the first to crash out in ninth spot for $12,262.

“Grebnets86” was the next to go home after losing against “Sosnoviy”.

The champion held pocket aces and called quickly when “grebnrets86” went all in with 16 million chips. “Grebnrets86” was awarded $18,195 and the 33 million chip pot was lost.

The online player to go in seventh for $21,644 was “EAlrikssson” after he went into a battle with “almaty.kz”. “BigRed0000” was eliminated in sixth $47,466 after competing against “Sosnoviy”.

“kenneeoin’s” play was ended in fifth for $63,288 after he attempted to double up.

“getdaragzout” left in fourth with $79,742 after being beaten by “almaty.kz”.

After a lengthy three-handed play the competitors agreed to “almaty.kz” taking home $133,937 with chip leader “Sosnoviy” being awarded with $206,610. “shak232” was given $159,489 before the contestants tried to compete for the final $30,000.

“shack232” was the first to be eliminated for third while “almaty.kz” finished in second.
