Popular member of boy band “Take That” has been criticized for planning to launch a new online poker site.

Anti-gambling campaigners and fans have been enraged that the singer is launching the website as they claim that 37 year old Williams, a former drug addict, will be raking in cash from vulnerable addicts.

According to Williams’ site, RobbieWilliamsPoker.com is where poker players and Robbie Williams’ fans play each other in order to score great prizes and create the craziest avatars. International software and content provider to the online and land-based gaming industry, Playtech, has announced that it has become the first UK gambling group to sign a licensing agreement to provide the Californian Online Poker Association (COPA) with online software before the anticipated relaxation of the internet gambling restrictions.

Playtech’s Sciplay International joint venture will also provide the California Poker Association (COPA) with “play-for-fun” internet games. According to new figures that have become available, there is now concrete numbers to the decrease in traffic in the online poker world since the US government shut down PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker in the United States on 15th April, 2011, which is now known as Black Friday.

After years of opposing online poker and gambling in the United States, the head of Wynn Resorts, the billionaire casino tycoon Steve Wynn, announced that his group has signed an alliance deal with the world’s most popular online poker room, Poker Stars. The announcement was made on Friday, and has attracted much excitement in the online gambling world, considering that Wynn was such a vocal opponent of the legalization and regulation of this form of entertainment in the past. Following a lengthy battle by the Gauteng Gambling Board (GGB) for a ban on online casinos in an attempt to protect South Africa’s R16 billion (US2.2 billion) gaming industry from fierce competition from online companies the Gambling Board has finally won its case.
