Playtech has revealed that it is expecting to enter into a number of new partnerships in online gambling markets that will hopefully open up in the near future.

The international designer, developer and licensor of software and services for the online, mobile and land-based gaming industry has entered into a 49.99% joint venture with Merkur Interactive GmbH, the online division of the Gauselmann Group. In terms of the agreement the two companies will jointly develop an online gaming operation that will concentrate on new opportunities once the German online market is regulated as well as a linked software licensing agreement. It is also hoped that the partnership will provide broad-based gaming and sports betting products and services where acceptable.

Leading casino software provider, Playtech, has announced that it has purchased the interactive gambling and betting games developer, Ash Gaming, for an amount of £23 million.

The acquisition of London based Ash Gaming, which was founded by Chris Ash in 2002, is Playtech’s fourth acquisition this year.

Ash Gaming has grown substantially since 2001 and currently employs forty people. Its profits doubled to £2.6 million in the twelve month period in its last full year report.

In terms of the deal, Playtech will make an initial payment of £15.5 million and the remaining £7.5 million will be paid by them over a period of three years and linked to future results.
